A: We are open every day of the week; rain, shine from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with massages starting at 10 a.m. Our last admission is at 8:30 p.m. for the Thermal Pools. We are open on all U.S. Holidays.
A: Reservations are not available for the Refuge Thermal Pools. The Refuge Thermal Pools are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and may be limited on high demand days. A waiting period may occur during high season or weekends. We recommend making massage reservations up to two weeks ahead for the best availability. Please note that our weekends do book up quickly.
A: The water in our Thermal Pools is treated through a three filter process of UV light, sand filtering and added chlorine to maintain each individual pools pH balance.
A: Requests for massage reservations may be made online. However, the reservation is not confirmed until our Refuge Concierge contacts you to advise if your preferred time is available and a credit card is provided to secure the booking.
A: The Refuge Thermal Pools are open year-round, rain or shine. Our facilities have been designed so that you can enjoy your hydrotherapy experience regardless of the weather. In case of a thunderstorm, the Pools may be closed. No reimbursement or compensation will be offered should we need to close our facility due to adverse meteorological conditions that are deemed unsafe.
A: Refuge does not have guest rooms or lodging on site.
A: No. We strongly advise against alcohol consumption during a hydrotherapy experience, which is why it is strictly forbidden. Management reserves the right to prohibit access to clients who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
A: For a bite to eat before or after your experience, a cafe is situated on site, offering sandwiches, salads, cookies, small treats, fruit juices, tea and coffee. Please note that food cannot be brought into Refuge and guests do not have in-and-out privileges. The cafe is open from 11am to 5pm most days.
A: No, the Refuge is reserved for adults of 18 years and over.
A: Our Massage Therapists are not trained to give a massage that is suited to the conditions of pregnant women. The Refuge Thermal Pools are not recommended for pregnant women because sudden temperature changes can lead to complications. Please consult your doctor.
A: If you are taking medication or have particular health problems Please consult your physician about using Refuge.
A: We are not a pet friendly facility. Please refrain from bringing animals to Refuge or from leaving them in the car as the weather in Carmel can change quickly and become dangerous to the animal's well-being.
A: Our Massage Therapists work professionally, with the greatest respect for each individual. You may wish to know that a sheet covers you at all times to respect your privacy. Only the area being massaged is uncovered. It is more comfortable to receive a massage when no clothing is worn, but we respect the choice of our clients who prefer to keep clothes on.
The Refuge Thermal Pools are man-made thermal pools.
